Beginners and Camera Settings Class - Abbey Park, Leicester - 2.00pm - 3 Hours
Some learner photographers worry about their camera settings and photo 'gear' which can sometimes get in the way of taking creative photographs. In this relaxed session, we'll walk around Abbey Park, take in the sights and identify photo opportunities in locations which may not be so obvious to begin with. Good photography is more about artistic value than than technical ability so we will focus on several 'challenges' covering; portrait, nature / landscape, macro and architecture to help provide a foundation for new and aspiring photographers who wish to learn together in a group setting while learning about how camera settings can affect the photograph.

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations across the region.
New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month.
And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Leicester Photography Facebook Group here to share your photos after the session.

Our classes and photography sessions are limited to a max of 5 students - due to current COVID restrictions

Leicester Street & Street Art Photo Walk Meetup - Leicester City Centre - 2.00pm - 2 Hours
Street Photography (and by extension, Street Art Photography) combines portraiture & architecture while being patient for the ‘decisive moment’ on when to hit the shutter button. In this photo walk of Leicester City Centre, we will explore the city’s Street Art focusing in and around the cultural quarter of Leicester. We will discover the importance of framing and being in the right place at the right time to capture the unexpected. In this group session, we will learn different approaches to photographing people on the street, including candid shots to approaching people with an aim to gain confidence in photographing strangers.

We will also discuss certain rules and guidelines for photographing on the street, (public vs private property, law enforcement, children & young people) and how to handle any setbacks when engaging with non-photographers in public.

A really fun, worthwhile and educational 2 hours of Street Photography - a new area for me. Sammy was great and had a good balance of sheer enthusiasm whilst at the same to challenging us to improve our skills. Lovely group of people with very varied experience and interests which really added to the session.
